So, recently I discovered that not only do I love a good knitting session, that I really enjoy crochet too! A few months ago, I visited my friend in Litchfield, and stumbled across the cutest little sewing shop I have found. The Sewing Shop was brimming with everything a crafter would go crazy for, and understandably I was left in there by my partner, after having about 30 minutes of just staring in awe. The ladies who ran the shop were, not only helpful, but just plain lovely. I told them that I was really interested in crochet, but I just couldn't get my head around the patterns, or even the beginner tutorials online. They both understood, as they must have had a few customers similar to myself! So, this is when they introduced me to the book that has taught me everything I know so far!
The first project I decided to do was the Tablet Case for my Ipad. I had previously been bought some gorgeous mustard yellow wool, which I had been saving for something special, so I knew that this had to be used for my first ever crochet project. The patterns were simple enough to pick up, and the way that Emma has shown how to create the stitch for this, was perfect for a beginner. The one stitch used for this pattern was double crochet, which the first pages of the book introduce you to. Its a pretty repetitive pattern, which is the best way for me to learn! Once finished, I wove in the ends, sewed together and matched with a grey button from out of my grandmas famous "button tin". I was very pleased with the final piece, especially for my first real go with crochet!
I've now moved on to other projects, which I will feature in future posts, so keep posted to see how things go :) Safe to say though, crocheting is a really addictive hobby, and I cant wait to build on the skills that I have learnt so far!
